Jed Sonnenshein practices in the areas of commercial transactions, real estate and entertainment law. He has a wide range of experience in transactional matters, contract disputes, land use and entitlement matters, and business negotiations and formations. Mr. Sonnenshein’s clients have included large insurance companies, investment advisors, real estate developers and investors, small business entrepreneurs, and motion picture and television directors. Prior to his affiliation with Greenberg & Bass, he served as in house counsel to two real estate investment companies and as Associate General Counsel to the Directors Guild of America, Inc.
Representative Matters
- Represented movie director in a dispute over director’s credit and mention for marketing of Oscar-winning motion picture, obtaining substantial financial settlement and favorable modification of television advertising of DVD release.
- Managed all aspects of the acquisition and due diligence of more than $60 million in transactions of commercial and multi-family property, including review of leases, underlying loan documents, title, and feasibility.
- Successfully obtained all entitlement approvals for the owner of a Downtown Los Angeles industrial building zoned for heavy manufacturing, allowing for conversion of property to live/work apartments; responsible for preparing and presenting the conditional use application, directing project design to maximize rentable space and address life safety issues, and fostering community support for project.
